India vs Pakistan(IND vs PAK) World Cup 2011 Semi Final Highlights

India started out the inning very aggressively but then Pakistan with their brilliant Spin bowling managed to end the Indian batting inning on 260 runs. Pakistan had a chance to win this one because the total wasn't that much. But Pakistan started the inning very defensively and they got all out on 231 runs. Congratulations Indian Team and Nation for the remarkable victory against Pakistan.

Who's House will be getting stoned tomorrow night?

The losing captain of Wednesdays game between India and Pakistan will have all the usual fun to deal with in the aftermath of his teams defeat.

The crowds outside stoning their house, the burning effigy scenes being repeated all over the country, having to go into hiding for a few weeks, all the usual stuff associated with losing a game against your biggest rival.

No disrespect meant to Dhoni or Afridi, but I can't wait.

India's stronger batting against Pakistan's stronger bowling, that's where the two team's strengths clearly lie. So it could be how the Indian bowling and Pakistani batting performs, which is the key to the outcome of this match.

I will be very disappointed if Shoaib Akhtar doesn't play, I can't begin to imagine the noise of the crowd at the sight of him coming in to bowl against Sachin and Sehwag, it will be unbelievable.

I don't know why, but I have a sneaky feeling for Pakistan. If Akhtar does play, can you imagine how pumped up he will be? I can see a performance from him and that's probably what is making me think, Pakistan.

Another twist to the outcome is Sachin, it would be a travesty if he was to end his career not having won the world cup.

Ultimately I hope cricket is the winner tomorrow. I'm glad to see that the Pakistan Prime Minister has accepted the invitation of his Indian counterpart to attend the match, I don't normally like seeing sport mixed in with politics or religion, but on this occasion I don't mind and I hope it can lead to a postitive outcome, and some much needed progress can be made between the two.

India start ss favourites at a best price of 4/7 with most bookmakers, Pakistan are a best price of 6/4 with Sportingbet and 11/8 with most of the other firms.

Pakistan vs India matches are always very interesting but i believe this one is going to be a match of the century. India has never lost a game to Pakistan in World Cups while Pakistan has never been beaten by India at Mohali. Pressure would be on both the teams. I wish both teams luck as for me these two teams are the favourites for this World cup. Enjoy this fascinating game or i can say a flight between PAK and IND here at this page.

Watch Live Cricket Online - Sri Lanka Vs England

Sri Lanka Vs England is the fourth quarter final of this world cup. The three winners from the previous quarter finals are Pakistan, India and New Zealand. First semi final clash will be between the arch rivals India and Pakistan. New Zealand awaits the outcome of Sri Lanka Vs England match to face the winner in the other semi final. The teams eliminated from the quarter finals were West Indies, Australia and South Africa.

Colombo hosts the match between Sri Lanka and England. A flat pitch will help the batsmen more but the overcast conditions will support the bowlers. England will be wary of Malinga's dangerous yorkers. At the same time Muralitharan can turn tables at any given time. With batsmen like Sangakkara, Dilshan, Jayawardene, etc. Sri Lanka doesn't have to worry about the batting department. And their fielding has been pretty good so far.

England has seen a lot of ups and downs. Loss against weaker teams like Bangladesh and Ireland, wins against strong teams like West Indies and South Africa and a nail biting tie against India. Now they are into a do or die situation. A win here can take them to the semi finals against New Zealand. Trott and Strauss are in excellent form. Anderson, Tredwell, Swann and Bresnan can be dangerous for the Lankans.
So overall a must watch match. Catch the live cricket online action of Sri Lanka Vs England quarter final.

England Through to Quarter-Finals

Breaking News - England have qualified for the quarter-finals of the cricket world cup after a good thrashing for Bangladesh in their final group game.

I heard that England needed a result this weekend, but such has been the crap Bangladeshi performances I didn't see the need to get up at 3am to watch their game.

I was then delighted when I switched on my TV this morning to see that England only needed 1 wicket with Bangladesh needing over 200 runs.

A comprehensive English victory when we needed it most. It's great too see an England team taking care of business themselves - no relying on other team's results to get us through as we are England, we take care of business ourselves with pride.

To smash a side by 206 runs when the pressure is on and you need a result shows you have what it takes, congratulations England.

Although both the teams are already through to the quarter finals but this match is important to decide the positioning of these two teams and whom they would play in the quarter finals.

Vettori and Mills are rested for this match as the New Zealand team doesn't want to take any chances. They want these two players to be completely fit for the knock out stages. Malinga would be a must watch asset in Sri Lankan side if his yorkers can dismantle the Kiwi batting line up.

Heat is completely on so the bowlers will have a tough time. Batsmen will have to adjust to the pitch conditions here before they can score good runs.

A nice match on hands. Enjoy live cricket online streaming action.

Eden Gardens hosts a day match between Ireland and Netherlands. It is unusual but true that since 1991 Eden Gardens has always hosted day and night matches. So this would be the first day match after 1991.

Ireland and Netherlands are associates and hence this match is going to be absolutely competitive. Simply because it will be a clash between almost equally matched teams. Ireland has been very impressive with their display in this world cup. Netherlands couldn't manage a win but they too were good.

Ireland has won 5 out of 7 matches played against Netherlands. A good opportunity for Netherlands to turn the tables and head home with a victory in their bag. Catch this exciting match through live cricket online streaming.

Disgraceful Scenes at Premier League Darts in Glasgow

As a Darts fan I was looking forward to tonight's game between Scotland's Gary Anderson and England's Adrian Lewis in Glasgow.

As is the norm these days, for some unknown stupid reason, it has become common place for the Scottish and Irish fans too boo certain English players, in particular Phil Taylor and James Wade.

It has also become the norm for all English crowds to stupidly boo Gary Anderson. With all this in mind I fully expected - as I'm sure did he - Adrian Lewis to get a fairly hostile reaction from the Glasgow crowd tonight.

I love watching and support Anderson, he is my favourite player at the moment, I believe if he can start to hit his doubles more consistently he will become the top player in the world.

I couldn't believe the ovation he got at the start tonight, it was out of this world. I don't think I have ever seen someone get such a response from a darts crowd.

What followed that was disgraceful, it wasn't clever chucking beer at Lewis before the start, but for idiots to start throwing coins as he was throwing his darts was unbelievable.

You could cleary hear the thud of coins bouncing off the backboard as Lewis was standing on the oche. Lewis was obviously aware what was going on, as he could be seen jumping at the sound of the thuds.

Did it never cross their minds that they could hit the man they were there to cheer? Probably not, as they haven't got brains.

Gary Anderson clearly didn't want to be there, he looked disgusted and embarrassed. Fair play to him for picking up some of the coins and mouthing to the idiots who threw them, what he thought of them.

Scottish sport fans have a great reputation around the world. I bumped into a load of Scotland football fans in Paris in 1998 at the football world cup.

I spent a couple of nights out drinking with some of them and had a great time, no malice whatsoever. One of my lasting memories of that trip was the sight and sound of a load of Scots at the top of the Eiffel Tower stamping their feet and singing.

The bemused looks on the faces of tourists from around the world up the tower that day was a picture, they were looking at all these blokes wearing skirts and with red wigs on singing and dancing, and wondering just what the hell was going on.

I always support Scotland when they play, unless they are playing England of course. I have also stated my support for Andy Murray on this blog before. In short, I like and support Scotland, I bear no grudge against them at all.

One thing that really pisses me off though is the element of bigots that attatch themselves (not support) to Celtic and Rangers, the sort of brave people that go home and give their mrs a good hiding because their football team lost.

Or the sort of people that look for a Catholic or a Protestant walking home on his own so they can go and give him a good old sectarian kick in, or maybe even stab him.

They are not sports fan, they are bigoted thugs. If it wasn't going to be such a drain on the army, I would suggest that they should be sent to the front line in Afghanistan to see how brave they really are.

Unfortunately it seems that these idiots who are the dregs of society infiltrated the darts tonight. I wonder will they be brave enough to give the mrs another slap tonight because Anderson lost?

Another Thriller

There may well have been little quality on show, but no one can argument with the entertainment value again. As I stated after the Ireland game, at least England are entertaining to watch, with the dullness of the other group, I would imagine that ICC are delighted to have England at the moment.

On one of the numerous occasions that I thought we had blown it today, I had planned to come on here tonight and write about just how crap England have been. Just because we won doesn't change the fact that we have been absolute garbage in this tournament so far.

And the main reason we won was because of West Indies' inability to get over the finishing line.

With the exception of the odd individual performance, we just haven't been good enough. Collectively the batting hasn't been consistent, the seem bowling has been all over the place, the fielding has been average and certain members of the squad have become almost unpickable.

Today was no different. At 121/1 we looked good, at 151/6 we looked on our way out and a part of me wanted a quick cu de gras and end to the misery. We then recovered to 192/6 and looked set to post a competitve total, hope was reignited, before a club cricket style run out put us back in trouble at 192/7.

Then on 216/7 Luke Wright decides to play the worst shot of his career. Just what was he thinking? To get caught on the boundary with the power play imminent shows a distinct lack of a cricketing brain. That shot should send a clear message to Andy Flower about Wright's capabilities for the future.

We then get gifted some wides and all of a sudden 250 - 255 looks back on the cards until Graeme Swann decided that he wanted to try and defend a lower total. Another ridiculous shot.

The bowling wasn't much better. Ok, so Gayle went on a mad scoring spree that would have troubled most bowlers, but I'm sure Tremlett and Bresnan could have made life harder for him.

I find it amazing that we are capable of finding two seemers who managed to perform worse than Jimmy Anderson.

On a positive note, thank God for Graeme Swann. Bopara also did ok with the ball (apart from when asked to catch it) and it was a remarkable comeback for James Tredwell. I also thought for West Indies that Devendra Bishoo looked good and Andre Russell had an impressive all round game.

But West Indies were poor as well, at 222/6, England were on there way home. How can a side capitulate to 225 all out from that position?

England are now starting to remind me off Gordon Brown's last days as Prime Minister, where someone needs to come along and put them out of their misery. They resemble a lame race horse in need of shooting. How much longer can this punishment go on for?

Depending on results, we now have to decide who to replace Ajmal Shahzad with. Will it be a spinner or a seemer, or maybe a batsman or a wicketkeeper, as at the moment we could do with half a new squad.

I have an off-the-wall suggestion, how about William Hague? He is currently going through a similiar calamitous time to the cricketers, the country could currently do with losing him, and his clangers would be less damaging to us if made in a cricketing capacity.

The way their tournament has gone so far, with the stupid nature of it, England will probably get knocked out by both West Indies and Bangladesh winning at the weekend, nothing would surprise me at the moment.

West Indies Vs England - A must win for England - India & Bangladesh supports West Indies victory

Watch Live Cricket Online Streaming - WI Vs Eng

Well the title says, must win for England and West Indies win is the wish of India and Bangladesh. That is true! That makes this match one of the most important clashes of World Cup 2011. England has to win this one to stay alive in this world cup. Besides this India and Bangladesh is praying for a West Indies win here for them to qualify to the quarter finals with West Indies.

England has been impressive against better teams like India and South Africa but West Indies has things the other way round. So probably England has an upper hand here. A win for England will keep the Group B qualifying thing interesting. West Indies win will make ways for India and Bangladesh too towards the next round.

Chennai being the venue today, England again anticipates a low and turning pitch. They played on this pitch against South Africa and clinched a shocking win. West Indies isn't familiar with the behavior of this pitch so they will take time to adjust to the conditions.

Can England save their World Cup?

I'm certainly not convinced they can, but then nothing would surprise me with this team at the moment.

A couple of plus points for England are that they played at this ground against South Africa, so should be familiar with it and that West Indies are equally as unpredictable and on their day, as totally useless as England can be.

So it could be a case of which England and which West Indies decides to turn up on the day. 150 all out plays 140 all out, or 295/6 plays 296/7, who knows what these two will produce.

I've just read Derek Pringle's piece in the Daily Telegraph and see he has the team down to be a probable Strauss, Bopara, Trott, Bell, Morgan, Prior, Wright, Yardy, Bresnan, Swann, Tremlett or Shahzad (if fit).

It's interesting that he sees England dropping Anderson whether Shahzad is fit or not. I would have thought Shahzad's illness would have given Anderson a reprieve.

I really hope that Pringle is right though, as Anderson has become a liability in ths tournament.

The other possible big name omission is Paul Collingwood, again what has he done lately to justify inclusion? Although there is a strong argument that he would still be more effective than Luke Wright.

Personally I would like to see Tremlett included no matter who's fit or not. Judging by the condidion of the pitch against South Africa, Yardy has to play, although if he can't get the ball to turn on this one he should be provided with some walking shoes and swimming trunks and made to make his own way home to England.

Off Strauss, this could possibly be his last game in the 50 over side. I know that the ECB have denied he will quit after the world cup, but from Strauss' point of view, it's hard too see what could motivate him to carry on in this side.

My motivation for keeping him for the time being, would be the lack of a suitable replacement. Who is there? I read somewhere the other day that Alastair Cook would become the 50 over captain should Strauss step down. I really can't see that one working.

Hopefully Strauss has another captain's innings left in him for tomorrow at least.

No TV for me either as I'm out all day driving, so I am relying on Aggers and Test Match Special to get me through the day, probably better not to be watching.

Also no bets, God knows who will win this one. There is more chance of predicting the winner of the toss, than the match.

Watch Live Cricket Online - Saf Vs Ire

South Africa and Ireland clash in one of the best venues for cricket viz. Eden Gardens, Kolkata. A thrilling day and nighter on our hands today. We can't see an upset insight but surely we will see some good resistance from the Irish players.

South Africa with a shocking defeat from England and a good win against India has mixed success in this world cup. But against the minnows they have performed very well. They would like to confirm the quarter final berth with a convincing win here at Eden Gardens.

Ireland would be cursing themselves that if they could have managed a win against Bangladesh, even they could have been into the contendors of reaching the quarters. Now beating South Africa is a very big ask. Hopefully we observe an enthralling match with tumbling wickets and huge sixes as well. Watch live cricket online and enjoy this thrilling world cup.

Was Ray Ranson right to sack Aidy Boothroyd?

Slight change in sport, but as a fan of Coventry City I feel the need to write my views on the club sacking Aidy Boothroyd today.

I wasn't overly impressed with Boothroyd's appointment at the time, I'm not a footballing snob that expects to see every team play the Barcelona way , but I'm also not a fan of the total long ball game, which is a Boothroyd staple.

A bit of variety yes, with route one used at times, but not 70 yards punts up field into the mixer from your goalkeeper for the whole 90 minutes.

The stats look awful for Coventry City, 10 managers in 10 years or something along those lines. It has been pointed out today in the local press and on the local radio phone-in that this kind of hiring and firing is no recipe for success. I think that goes without saying.

Where I disagree with most Coventry fans though, is on this view that this is a chairman panicking and pulling the trigger. Ray Ranson played football at the top level, he knows sacking a manager every 12 months won't bring you success.

That's why I have sympathy with Ranson and believe he was in between a rock and a hard place on this one.

There are constant rumours that the club is up for sale, also that they will go into administration. SISU - a hedge fund who own the football club - are rumoured to have lost interest, the only money they are (apparently) currently putting into the club, is the weekly deficit to keep the club afloat.

For all we, the fans know, Ranson might be fighting a battle behind the scenes to persuade SISU just to continue to back the club.

What chance SISU remaining on board if Coventry go down to Division 1? Add to that the fact that the TV deal in Division 1 is supposed to be £100,000, compared to the current £4M in the Championship.

If this is true and CCFC are struggling to survive as it is, then what chance does the club have if they get relegated? Suddenly the spectre of administration becomes more realisitc.

In some cases it isn't just as simple as a manger getting fired because he isn't living up to unrealistic expectations, I believe this to be one of those decisions, one based on other eventualities, rather than just results.

I know this might sound extreme, but Ray Ranson might have taken a decision today that could even affect the future existence of the football club. In getting rid of Boothroyd he might have saved the club from relegation and convinced SISU that the club is worth sticking with.

The decision might also condemn us to relegation, who knows. In a way though, I'd sooner have a chairman who acts, rather than one that sits on his hands and waits for the inevitable.

But even if I was to base the decision on footballing reasons, I think I would still agree with the sacking. 1 win in 16 games, apparently he had lost the dressing room. What choice did Ranson have?

When a manager loses the dressing room he is doomed, if Boothroyd had, then Ranson would be incompetent as a chairman if he had not sacked him.

On the 10 managers in 10 years stat, I believe where CCFC really let themselves down was in the reckless way they went through managers in the 2001-2006/7 period.

They started off sacking managers because they failed to make the play-offs, this is really coming back to haunt them now.

Because of this every time they now sack a manager, even if the manager had, or deserved to go, it just looks like another over reaction and the stat backs that theory up.

Anyway, just to cheer me up I noticed a story about an hour ago that Arsenal are trying to bring back 41-year-old nut job Jens Lehmann on loan until the end of the season, just when Arsenal fans thought things couldn't get any worse.

1987 and onwards, it's all Gatting's fault

All this bullshit talk about choking got me thinking back to the 1987 world cup final, it's strange how I think of that game whenever I hear the term 'choker.'

The reasons why? Well my lasting memories of that match are of England getting into a winning position and then chucking it away with Mike Gatting playing a stupid needless reverse sweep shot off Allan Border.

In short, I believe England choked that day. The world cup was there for the taking and we blew it.

This leads me onto Mike Gatting, Gat has got to be blamed for a lot of what went wrong with English cricket in the late 80's - early 90's and probably beyond.

First, that bloody reverse sweep shot, I still hate that shot til this day. I cringe whenever I hear a TMS commentator say it, or I watch someone play it on TV.

If Gat had never played it, we might well have gone on and won that world cup. What would a world cup win have done for the future of cricket in this country?

Just look at contrast in fortunes for Australia and England after that day/shot.

Second, that ball from Warne. Again Gatting is responsible, if he had got any part of his gut or bat in the way of that, the ball would never have happened, the Warne factor may never have materialized and after that he wouldn't have had 3 wickets in the bag everytime he played against England before he'd even bowled a bloody ball.

From that ball onwards, Warne had England in his pocket for the next 15 years.

So in conclusion, I can now confirm that Mike Gatting is responsible for all that has been wrong with English cricket from 1987-2007. And we didn't need no research by any nutty professor or geek in a white jacket on the tax payer's payroll to work that out.

So in future, just ask me instead.
